Over the past six years, and with your help, Bloktoberfest has been able to have a lasting impact on the South of South Neighborhood and Philadelphia as a whole by raising over $180,000 in beer proceeds to various charitable causes.

In 2016 Bloktoberfest granted $49,000 to area groups and causes for projects including education, greening, and the arts. 2016 grant recipients include:

  • Aurora Classical
  • Coded by Kids
  • Bethesda Project
  • South of South Neighborhood Association (SOSNA)
  • 17th Police District Advisory Council
  • Shiloh Baptist Church
  • Marian Anderson – Pop Up Pool

2017 will continue this tradition of service by committing our beer proceeds to initiatives that address education, green space, public safety and community development for the neighborhood that so generously hosts our festival. Organizations with projects that address these issues are encouraged to apply for grant funding from Bloktoberfest.

We’re proud to run an event that both celebrates and gives back to the community. We think you’ll agree that it makes the beer taste even better.

The intent application for 2017 is below and will remain open until at least October 1st. Please fill out this application to express your organization’s interest in being invited to the post-event granting process. Grantees need to either be registered non profit or else have a non profit acting as their fiscal agent. We’ll ask for your 2016 budget and annual report during the application process. Bloktoberfest funds projects and initiatives addressing education, green space, public safety, and community development for the surrounding neighborhoods. We do not grant unrestricted funds and avoid contributing to operating budgets directly.

Qualified organizations will be contacted to participate in grant submission in the weeks following the event and will have at least two weeks from the invitation to submit an application.
