New Pony

A prime mover in Philadelphia’s resurgent funk scene, New Pony thrives on a diverse array of styles that includes elements of funk, soul, R&B, and rock. Their sets move seamlessly from rollicking R&B and New Orleans funk standards, to crowd pleasing funky re-makes of rock classics by Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and more, all spiced with their original material, and guaranteed to lock you to the dance floor.

Since forming almost by accident in 2007, New Pony has become one of the most sought after and entertaining bands on the local and regional scenes. They’ve played all up and down the eastern seaboard headlining and opening for national acts like Sonny Landreth, The Budos Band, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Bernie Worrell, The Walkmen, and Robert Randolph and the Family Band. In addition, they’ve played any number of regional festivals. But regardless of the venue, from the first riffs of the slide guitar, a growl from the Hammond B-3, and that first rhythmic blast from the horn section, you’ll know this is no ordinary bar band. These guys came to play and they’re going to take you on a ride back to that dark New Orleans dive bar. You remember the one, the one with the $3 beers, cheesy christmas lights around the walls, the waitress who says “where y’at, sugar,”, and a small stage worn by the years in the corner with a band blowing the doors off the place.

Check out New Pony. You won’t be disappointed.

C’mon, now, where y’at?
